AT&T awarded a $20,000 contribution to the Roy Griggs School of Business at Southern
University at Shreveport as part of AT&T’s commitment to help bridge the digital divide and
connect communities. The funds will support scholarships for low-income, working adult
students pursuing business degrees.
“Businesses across every industry are looking for professionals who understand both business
fundamentals and modern technology,” said Roy Griggs, CEO/President, Roy Griggs School of
Business (RGSB). “This support helps remove financial barriers for driven, working adults who
want to advance their careers and contribute at a higher level in the regional economy.”
“These scholarships create real opportunity for students who are balancing work, family, and school while pursuing a business degree,” said Dr. Aubra Gantt, Chancellor, Souther University at Shreveport. It strengthens our mission to expand access, improve completion, and prepare graduates with the practical, technology-driven skills employers are demanding today.”
“Workforce development is economic development,” said State Senator Sam Jenkins. “Investments that help limited-income, working adults earn business degrees with modern, in- demand skills directly support job growth, entrepreneurship, and long-term prosperity for Shreveport and the entire region.”
The Roy Griggs School of Business at Southern University plays a critical role in preparing students for meaningful careers while strengthening the local economy. Through associate degree and certificate programs focused on accounting, business management, and entrepreneurship, the School equips students with practical, in-demand skills that support workforce readiness and upward mobility. By serving a diverse student population, many of whom are working adults or first-generation college students, the Roy Griggs School of Business helps expand opportunity, develop local talent, and ensure businesses across North Louisiana have access to a skilled and prepared workforce.
“Louisiana’s workforce is changing fast, and our higher education institutions are meeting that moment head-on,” said David Aubrey, President, AT&T Louisiana. “By expanding access to business education for working adults, the Roy Griggs School of Business is helping ensure more people have the skills and credentials needed to succeed in today’s economy, while strengthening the talent pipeline for employers across north Louisiana.”
