Shreveport, Louisiana — The Board of Directors of the Roy Griggs School of Business (RGSB), Inc. nonprofit corporation, extends sincere gratitude to the Beaird Family Foundation for a grant award in the amount of $25,000 in support of its mission to advance business education and workforce opportunities.
On January 28, Beaird family member and board member John Beaird, along with Beaird Foundation Executive Director Dr. Toya Graham, made the official presentation. During the event, Mr. Beaird remarked, “We are pleased to support Roy and his organization’s efforts to elevate citizens of our community… that’s what our Foundation is all about.” Upon making the presentation to Mr. Griggs, Dr. Graham added, “…as a funder, we are elated to partner with the organization to help expose students to these pathways to educational opportunities…”
In his heartfelt response, Roy Griggs announced a matching gift of $25,000, sharing his appreciation for the partnership and noting, “We are grateful for Beaird’s investment, and we understand that to whom much is given, much is required.”
RGSB, Inc.’s Chairman Jonathan Reynolds stated, “Together, these combined contributions represent a $50,000 investment that will advance our mission, and we are deeply grateful.” These funds will be used to expand access to business degree attainment for RGSB students at Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA), while increasing community awareness of opportunities for training certifications and career exploration within the business field.
Designed as a focused update for a small group of inaugural major gift donors, the event was hosted by the RGSB, Inc. Board of Directors and recognized all Major Gift Partners for their generous support. The instructor for the RGSB academic degree program at Southern University at Shreveport, Aylwin Holmon, participated as a featured speaker, highlighting the impact of donor investment on business students.
